My story began at the age of 5 when I was given an Easy Bake Oven. Yes, the one where you cook little cakes using a light bulb. That light bulb moment was the beginning of my love affair with the kitchen and how little changes could change a recipe.
I was a typical kid and grew up on the East Coast of Canada and later moved to Ontario. After university, I lived the normal life of being a busy business woman. My husband and I, worked hard, played hard and I climbed the ladder in a multi-national company and became their National Sales Manager.
After the birth of our 1st son, we struggled. He was colicky…24 hours a day. It tooks months for him to stop crying and we didn’t figure out what was going on until he started on solid food. It was then that we discovered that he had a gluten sensitivty. This was 22 years ago…way before the days of being able to find loads of gluten free options. I learned how to make bread, cookies and muffins with many crumbly disasters along the way.
I’m also an athlete and a runner. A couple of years later I trained for a marathon and ran the 26.1 miles in 4 1/2 hours. Three months later I was pregnant with baby number 2. I tell you all this because of what came next…
Our beautiful baby number 2 came along and I was exhausted and he developed eczema at 9 weeks old- head to toe…all over his little body. We were able to heal his eczema by using flax oil that gave him the omega 3 fatty acids his body needed and was missing.
My exhaustion lead to the beginning of HypoThyroid and later Hashimoto’s. The diagnosis as many of you know, can take years and in my case took 10.
I cheered when I was finally heard and given thyroid medication…but that was shortlived.
I didn’t feel better and developed feelings of anxiety, I had peri-menopausal symptoms, hot flashes, night sweats and stopped sleeping through the night. I had acid reflux and constipation and lost lots of hair, including my eyebrows.
I spent the next 10 years researching and testing eveything to heal my body. I wanted to get back to the vibrant athletic self I use to be. I listened to what my body was saying and let it be my guide. I used herbs, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, vitamins and minerals, whole grains, healthy fats along with grass fed humanly raised meats.
I read, and cooked and tested….
I went back to school to become a certified holistic health coach to help other women, just like you… Feel, Look and Sleep Better. It is possible to feel like yourself again, to feel calm and relaxed. To have clear thoughts, a strong immune system and energy.
My mission is to help you build a vibrant life and get you on the clear path for life and energy.
